Build Steps
- Install 128gb M.2 SSD
- Reset bios
- Flash bios
- Clear down Boot Sequence
- Install ThinOS
- Install Windows 10 Pro
- Check Boot Sequence
1. Install 128gb M.2 SSD
Very simple process. Just open the case (single screw on the back, slide side cover open) and insert the SSD in to the M.2 slot. A standoff screw should be used to lock the drive in to place. \
2. Reset Bios
- While the cover is open, move the CMOS jumper to the Service Mode position
- Remove the CMOS battery for 10 seconds, then slot it back in.
- Now move the jumper back to the PW CLR position.
The BIOS will now be reset with any passwords removed.
NOTE:On first bootup a cmos error is displayed. Enter the bios and set the time/date to prevent further errors.
3. Flash Bios
Download the latest BIOS (1.16.0 as of writing).

- Copy the exe file to a usb drive.
- Boot the terminal and press F12 as soon as the Dell Logo appears
- Select Bios Update
- Locate the exe from the USB drive
- Follow instructions to install
4. Clear down Boot Sequence
- Boot the terminal and press F12 as soon as the Dell Logo appears
- Select Bios Setup
- Open the Boot Sequence page and unlock
- Remove all entries in the boot list
- Exit
5. Install ThinOS
** NOTE: You will need a wired mouse and keyboard to perform the ThinOS install

Download the latest ThinOS image (1.16.0 as of writing).

- Format a USB flash drive (16-32gb) as NTFS
- Run the Dell_Wyse_USB_Imaging_Tool_v3.5.0.exe file and install the tool (requires .net framework)
- Extract the OS_Merlin_9.1.6108_5070.zip file
- Launch the Dell USB tool as Administrator and select the push tab
- Press the "+" button to add the image from the extracted zip file
- Press configure USB
The USB drive is now ready to be used to build out ThinOS on the builtin eMMC drive
- Insert the USB drive in to the terminal
- Boot the terminal and press F12 as soon as the Dell Logo appears
- Select the "*UEFI" entry from the boot list
- Follow all instructions to push the image to the eMMC drive (Note: the installer does not see or use the SSD M.2 drive)
6. Install Windows 10 Pro
On a valid Windows 10 Pro licensed installation, chose to create a bootable installation media on a USB drive. \
- Insert the USB drive in to the terminal
- Boot the terminal and press F12 as soon as the Dell Logo appears
- Select the "*UEFI" entry from the boot list
- The Windows installation will begin but be very careful to select the correct drive for the installation. It should be Drive0. Drive 1 is the internal eMMC.
7. Check Boot Sequence
You should now have both ThinOS and Windows10 installed on the terminal. The Windows installation should have placed itself at the top of the boot sequence list. You can check this by checking the first entry in the list which should have a boot file path of;
\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi
If this entry isn't first in the list, find the correct entry and move it to the top. Windows will now always be the primary boot OS.
